Abstract

The aim of the study was to research the therapeutic effect of galenic phytocomplex from Ledum palustre L. by the hematological and biochemical indicators (blood leukocyte composition, pro/antioxidant status in serum and tissue homogenate (lungs) of rats under acute bronchitis. Acute bronchitis (AB) was
initiated by endotracheal administration of 1 % formalin solution. The animals were divided into groups: intact control, animals with simulated acute bronchitis, and animals with AB and 7 days use of the galenic phytocomplex from Ledum palustre at a dose of 50 mg/kg or Prospane tablet at a dose of 240 mg/kg as comparison drug.
The dynamics of inflammation and pharmacotherapeutical action of phytocomplex from Ledum palustre was evaluated 24 hours after modeling AB and after 7 days of treatment by the leukocyte composition of the blood and by the content of secondary products of lipoperoxidation (TBK-active products, TBK-AP) and catalase activity in serum; TBK-AP, catalase activity and reduced glutathione level (RG) in lung tissue homogenate.
The results of the study showed that the galenic phytocomplex at a dose of 50 mg/kg, which was administered to rats for 7 days, restored content of monocytes and lymphocytes in the blood, other indicators of the leukocyte formula did not differ significantly from intact control. Against the background
of the phytocomplex, the ratio of pro/antioxidant processes in the serum remained at the physiological level. In lung tissue, a statistically significant decrease in the content of TBA-AP was observed against the background of increased catalase activity, the content of reduced glutathione was maintained at the level
of intact animals.
Thus, the results obtained confirm the favorable course of AB after 7 days use of galenic phytocomplex from shoots of Ledum palustre L. and show that it is a promising substance for development of new drugs with anti-inflammatory activity.
